Music Audition Requirements for Summer Programs (Grades 6-8)

Classical Music Programs

Please submit video recordings featuring two contrasting works: one demonstrating lyricism and another demonstrating technique. There is no required repertoire for intermediate applicants, and piano accompaniment is not required. Percussionists should demonstrate their skills on snare drum, mallet instruments, and timpani.

Before you arrive at Camp

All students will submit video submissions prior to arriving at Camp to determine ensemble seating placements. Instructions for submitting auditions and audition excerpts will be provided in post-enrollment forms and program letters on the Education Community. Campers may submit recordings between April 1 and June 10, 2025.

Strings: Students will be placed in the World Youth Symphony Orchestra or Interlochen Philharmonic based on the results of auditions.

Winds and Percussion: Placement in the orchestra or wind ensemble will be determined based upon a student's audition at the time of application. Seating within your pre-determined ensemble will be determined by the video submission prior to Camp.
