Interlochen offers Junior musicians the opportunity to participate in a Junior Honors Recital. The preliminary round requires students to prepare a video audition, which must be submitted online through our Education Community. Juniors who are accepted will perform in a special Honors Recital scheduled mid-week during the 2nd week of each session.

Entrance Requirements
The opportunity to perform in an honors recital is open to all Junior instrumental and voice majors (piano, woodwind, brass, percussion, strings, harp, guitar, and voice) who have completed the regular admissions process and have been enrolled in a two, four, or six week Interlochen Arts Camp program.
Those selected to perform in an honors recital will be notified via email by June 12th, 2026. Collaborative pianists will be assigned to accompany each honors recital performer prior to the beginning of Camp. Those selected to perform will be scheduled based on their Interlochen Arts Camp attendance dates.
Audition and Repertoire Guidelines:
Students may perform any work of their choosing within a 10 minute time limit. The selection should consist of one movement, song or single piece, and must be memorized. Please consult with the student's private teacher or ensemble director for guidance on the selection and recording of music.
Auditions should be accompanied (if possible and appropriate) using the following guidelines:
| 1. | Record in a quiet and uninterrupted space using a video format device of your choice. |
| 2. | Do an audio check to test volume levels prior to beginning. |
| 3. | Tune before beginning, if appropriate to your instrument. |
| 4. | Announce the student's name and the title, movement, and composer of the selection at the beginning of the recording. |
| 5. | Play straight through the music with no stopping and restarting. |
| 6. | Do not use a music stand, iPad, or any form of sheet music. Look directly at the camera. |
| 7. | Selection must be memorized! Non-memorized selections will be disqualified. |
| 8. | Stay within the maximum time limit of 10 minutes. |
| 9. | Shorter selections are acceptable. |
| 10. | Write down the full title, movement, and composer of your piece to submit for use in Camp recital programs. |
If selected, students will play the submitted audition piece on one of the Juniors Honors Recitals and families will be notified in advance of the time and date.
