There is no place better to grow and thrive as a young artist than Interlochen Arts Academy. Our students come from different cultures and educational backgrounds, from all over the country and all around the world, sharing one essential quality: a passion for the arts.
The application is the first step toward becoming part of our community. We've designed the admission process with two primary goals:
- Provide opportunities for you to demonstrate your preparedness for boarding school
- Provide opportunities for you to interact with current students, faculty, and staff to ensure Interlochen is the right place for you and your goals
We aren't looking for perfection, but for potential. More than anything, we want to make sure you will be able to thrive artistically, academically, and emotionally during your time here.
All applications for Interlochen Arts Academy are submitted online via our Education Community portal. This is where you will fill out your contact information, write your required responses, receive your recommendations, and upload admissions documents, including your audition and portfolio.
Audition and Portfolio Requirements
Your audition and/or portfolio is the most important part of the application process. Each major has different requirements, so please read the instructions carefully before starting.
Although our campus is currently closed to visitors and guests, in the meantime please stop by our Virtual Resources & Events to learn more about upcoming events such as Open Houses, Meet & Greets, Q&As, and much more.
Tuition & Financial Aid
We believe that each and every talented student who is offered admission should be able to attend. Explore our tuition and financial assistance options and don't hesitate to contact our Office of Admission & Financial Aid to ask questions or seek advice.
The application process for international students requires additional materials, including English proficiency testing results. Want to know more about life as an international student? Our International Students page can give you insights on what to expect.
