Summer 2024 Updates & Changes

For Summer 2024, we are making several changes to better serve our students. Changes include updated arrival times for Intermediate and High School students, and eliminating the "choice year" for rising 10th graders. These updates are outlined below. We look forward to seeing you at camp!

Camp 2023 Week 1 Opening Weekend

Updated Arrival Windows - Intermediate and High School

This summer, we are implementing a simplified arrival process to ensure a prompt start to your artistic curriculum.

  • If you are enrolled in a program that begins on Week 1, please arrive on Sunday, June 23.
Check-in will open at 8 a.m. and will close at 2 p.m. Artistic obligations will begin at 2:30 p.m.
If you are traveling alone by plane, you may check in on Saturday, June 22 after 5 p.m. if needed due to flight availability.

  • If you are enrolled in a program that begins on Week 4, please arrive on Sunday, July 14.
    Check-in will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Please plan your travel to accommodate the Sunday morning arrival period. This streamlined process will reduce ‘down time’ and allow you to get started with your artistic work as soon as possible.

If you arrive by plane or commercial bus after these check-in times, you will be accommodated and picked up by Interlochen personnel, but may miss important artistic onboarding meetings or auditions.

Elimination of Choice Year for Rising 10th Graders

After reviewing feedback from our students, families, and staff, we have removed the option for rising 10th grade students to enroll in an Intermediate program. All rising 10th graders will now be a part of the High School Division.

At Interlochen Arts Camp, a student’s division determines not only which educational programs they take part in, but also where they are housed and what rules they must follow. Eliminating the ‘choice year’ will ensure a more consistent and age-appropriate experience for all high school students.

New Photo Galleries

Our Camp photos galleries are now hosted by Canto. (This replaces our Bunk1 photo service used in prior years, which required families to pay for advanced features.) We are happy to announce that Canto is 100% free for families and provides advanced searching and filtering capabilities.

To access photos during the summer, families may log in to the Education Community and click “Camp 2024 →” and then click the Photo Gallery button on the right side. Photos can be viewed and sorted by program, and downloaded for free.

Junior girl gets knickers

Limited availability of knickers

Knickers have been a historical part of our camp uniform.  However, these are no longer mandatory, and knickers and pants are no longer available at the Uniform Building. But, our camp uniform remains a part of the Interlochen experience! Please see your Division’s Packing List for details on uniform requirements:
