Theatre Audition Requirements for Summer Programs (High School Students)
Acting
- Video file #1: One contemporary monologue, less than two minutes in length, from a published play.
- Video file #2: One monologue from Shakespeare, less than two minutes in length.
Musical Theatre Showcase
- Video file #1: Two contrasting songs performed with piano accompaniment. Examples include one up-tempo song and one ballad or slow song; one pop song and one Broadway song; or one comedy song and one dramatic song.
- Video file #2: Briefly talk about your interest in musical theatre and your reasons for applying to this program, followed by a monologue from a published play no longer than two minutes in length.
- Video file #3: One one-minute sample of movement or dance that best represents your skill level (include pirouettes, jumps, and any type of acrobatic movements).
- PDF file #1: A résumé or summary covering your past theatre experiences.

When you arrive at Interlochen: There will be another round of auditions at the beginning of the session to cast specific roles within the production.

Theatre Design & Production
- A short 3-5 minute video responding to the following four prompts:
- Why do you love the Theatre?
- What do you hope to learn by coming to Interlochen Arts Camp?
- If you could do any backstage job on a show, what would it be and why?
- What else would you like us to know as we consider your application?
- A one-page resume outlining your previous production experience and technical skills
- A portfolio or collection of production work samples in the following format:
- Title Slide – Include your name and grade/school
- Project Slides – One slide per show/project with:
- 1–2 images (photos, sketches, etc.) of completed project
- No more than 3 bullet points explaining your role, an important part of your process, and something you’re proud of or learned.
- Tips for Success – Keep it clean and simple. Use large, clear images. Be honest and concise in your bullet points. Limit to a maximum of 10 slides total.
