Theatre Audition Requirements for Summer Programs (Grades 6-8)
Acting
- Video File # 1: One comedic monologue, 1-2 minutes in length, from a published play of your choice.
- Video File # 2: One serious monologue, 1-2 minutes in length, from a published play of your choice.
Musical Theatre Showcase
- Video File # 1: Two short excerpts from two songs with piano accompaniment or backing track. One excerpt should be from an up-tempo song, and one should come from a ballad or slow song.
- Video File # 2: One monologue of your choice from a published play or musical (no longer than two minutes in length).
- Video File # 3: One short dance or movement sequence that could include choreography, jumps, or any type of acrobatic movements (no longer than one minute in length).
Theatre Design
Please submit the following:
- A short 3-5 minute video responding to the following four prompts:
- Why do you love the theatre design?
- What theatrical design element is most interesting to you and why?
- Tell us about a theatrical design, set, lighting, costume, projections, or props that had an impact on you as an audience member.
- What else would you like us to know as we consider your application?
All students with a passion for theatre and design are encouraged to apply.
Technical Theatre
Please submit the following:
- A short 3-5 minute video responding to the following four prompts:
- Why do you love technical theatre?
- What stage crew position is the most interesting to you and why?
- Tell us about a theatrical production assignment, stage management, set, lighting, costume, projections, or props that had an impact on you as a crew person or as an artist.
- What else would you like us to know as we consider your application?
All students with a passion for theatre and design are encouraged to apply.
