We welcome students from China to our campus community.

Over the years, many of Interlochen’s highest-performing alumni have come from China. These individuals include: Jessica Zhou, principal harp of the Boston Symphony; Bill Zheng, chief automotive designer at Stellantis; Wanzhen Li, violinist in the American National Symphony Orchestra; filmmaker Miida Chu; Raymond Leung, violinist in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra; Jicheng Zhang, principal trombone at the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra; Kens Liu, conductor of the Theatre und Orchester Heidelberg; Rui Liu, principal tuba at the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra; Chinese famous singer-songwriter Jingtong Dou and many more.

Interlochen is a destination for international students.

Same as domestic students, international students are also eligible for scholarships and financial aid to attend Interlochen. After they enroll in Interlochen, we offer a four-year English as a Second Language program (ESL) which helps international students gain outstanding English language abilities. When they graduated from Interlochen, our international students were regularly admitted to their top-choices and many of them also received scholarships from United Stated based colleges and universities.

The Creative Writing major nurtures young writers’ talent, stimulates their imagination, and broadens their command of the writer’s craft.

The Dance major offers pre-professional training in classical and contemporary dance.

In the Film & New Media major, students have the opportunity to explore game design, animation, and new media creation.

The Music major prepares students for life after high school—whether they’re tackling the rigors of study at the university level or thriving in the commercial music industry. Majors in Classical Performance, Composition, Jazz Performance, Music Production & Engineering, Popular Performance, and Singer-Songwriter are available.

In the Theatre major, students can focus their studies in Acting, Musical Theatre, or Design & Production.

In Visual Arts, students develop advanced technical skills and conceptual thinking in painting, sculpting, printmaking, digital arts, and more.

The Interdisciplinary Arts major attracts young artists with skills and interests in multiple artistic disciplines.

Interlochen is located just southwest of Traverse City, Michigan and is a short drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes, called one of the most beautiful places in the world by Good Morning America. Interlochen’s campus features some of the most outstanding artistic facilities dedicated to the high school age group in the world.
