Whether you're preparing for auditions or looking to strengthen your performance skills, this online certificate program will help you become a more versatile and confident flutist.

Taught by a world-class flutist and educator, the Flute Methods certificate program offers a unique opportunity to deepen your craft, earn a valuable credential, and receive credit from Interlochen. This program is designed for both adults and teens and consists of three four-week courses that must be taken in sequential order.

Flute Methods 1

✔Apply specific techniques to achieve a clear and resonant tone, paying attention to clarity, pitch accuracy, and expressive phrasing
✔Identify common challenges related to intonation and apply strategies to address these challenge
✔Develop the ability to improvise and incorporate creative elements into your performances
✔Create practice routines that balance technical development with self-care

Flute Methods 2

✔Improve your tone, intonation, and dynamic range
✔Master major, minor, chromatic, and whole-tone scales, as well as major, minor, diminished, and augmented chord arpeggios in all twelve keys
✔Refine articulation skills, including staccato, staccatissimo, accent, marcato, and tenuto
✔Develop improvisational skills through an understanding chord tone theory, guide tones, and chord changes

Flute Methods 3

✔Achieve diverse tone colors, maintain flexibility across the flute's full range, and improve high register playing
✔Play rapid scales, arpeggios, and trills with precision and control
✔Develop effective strategies for sight-reading complex rhythms, maintaining tempo, and performing from memory with confidence
✔Improvise using motivic development concepts, including repetition, alteration, transformation, and variation
