We offer band, orchestra, and songwriting camps for nearly every instrument and genre. Frequently asked questions about Interlochen summer music camps
Interlochen Arts Camp welcomes young musicians in grades 3–12. We offer summer music camps for high school students, as well as programs for middle and elementary students. Each program is designed to meet students where they are in their artistic journey, providing age-appropriate instruction, ensemble experiences, and creative exploration.
Our age divisions are Junior (grades 3-6), Intermediate (grades 6-8), and High School (grades 9-12).
A student's age division is based on their current grade level, not the grade they will be entering in the fall following Camp.
Interlochen Arts Camp is located in northwest lower Michigan, nestled between two scenic lakes.

Most (but not all) summer music programs at Interlochen require an audition. Audition requirements vary by program.
Junior (grades 3-6) advanced programs require auditions. Intermediate (grades 6-8) programs require auditions for placement, while High School and Intensive (grades 9-12) programs require auditions for acceptance.

Yes, Interlochen offers need-based financial aid and merit scholarships for eligible students. Each year, we award millions in scholarships to help aspiring artists attend our summer music camps and pursue their creative passions.
