Love, lies, and loyalty collide in Dave Malloy’s Tony Award-winning electro-pop opera Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812. Adapted from Part 8 of Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace, the sung-through musical examines the ill-fated romances of the two titular characters. As Pierre despairs over his wife’s serial infidelity, his best friend’s beautiful fiancé, Natasha, arrives in Moscow. But when Pierre’s womanizing brother-in-law seduces Natasha, Pierre must intervene to prevent Natasha from making a life-changing mistake. Don’t miss a dynamic production of this “breathless, roughish, and ravishing quasi-opera” (The New York Times) starring the young artists of the Interlochen Arts Academy Theatre Division. Content warning: This production contains material that may be distressing to some audiences, including gun shots and attempted suicide.
