When a family unit fractures, where do loyalties lie? That’s the question faced by Electra and her brother in Euripides’ timeless tragedy. Following their murder of her husband, Clytemnestra and her lover separate and exile Clytemnestra’s two children, Electra and Orestes. Years later, Orestes reunites with Electra and invites her to join him as he avenges their father. As the fated day draws nearer, Electra and Orestes must decide: Does Clytemnestra deserve to die? Or is the crime of matricide a step too far? Join the Interlochen Arts Academy Theatre Division as they stage Emily Wilson’s gripping translation of this classic Greek tale.
