The Art of Digital Photography

Learn the tools to master manual photography and develop your unique visual voice.

In this hands-on course, you'll gain a deep understanding of how to operate your camera manually, unlocking the creative potential of settings like shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and white balance. Through guided exercises and photographic experiments, you'll explore how the exposure triangle and other technical tools can help you capture light, motion, and atmosphere with intention.

Photography is about more than just settings—it’s also about people. You’ll learn the art of portraiture by photographing yourself, your loved ones, and even strangers on the street, practicing how to build trust, give direction, and capture emotion with sensitivity and style. Along the way, you'll study the work of iconic photographers past and present to understand how they used composition, light, and subject matter to express something only they could see.

The course also teaches you how to curate and sequence images into a cohesive series that tells a story, explores a theme, or conveys a mood—just as photographers do when building photo zines or preparing for a gallery show. By the end, you’ll create a final project that brings together everything you've learned: a self-directed, fully-edited series of photos that showcases both your technical command and personal perspective.

What you will learn:

✔ Operate a digital camera in manual mode and use exposure settings to achieve expressive results
✔ Use lighting, lens choice, and composition to create compelling portraits and candid images
✔ Analyze and take inspiration from master photographers to refine your own style
✔ Sequence and edit your photos into a meaningful, personal visual story
