Interlochen Online Learning Experience

Interlochen Online’s learning experience is designed to be inspiring, flexible, and rooted in artistic growth. Learn more about our online courses, certificate programs, and private lessons.

Courses

Interlochen Online arts courses are four weeks long and designed by experienced artists and educators. Guided video lessons, tutorials, and creative projects provide step-by-step instruction you can complete on a flexible schedule of about five hours per week.

Connect with your instructor and fellow students through messages and community tools in the Interlochen Online learning environment. You can also join an optional, hour-long live class each week to ask questions, discuss ideas with classmates, and learn directly from your instructor.

Each week, you will create something and receive personalized feedback to help you improve. You will finish the course with practical new skills, completed creative work, and connections with artists who share your interests.

Certificate Programs

Each certificate program combines three four-week courses into a focused pathway for developing your craft, completing polished projects, and earning a recognized credential.

Course scheduling varies by program. Courses may be taken sequentially, concurrently, or in a student-determined order.

After successfully completing all three courses, you will receive a physical certificate and a shareable digital certificate for your résumé, college application, or LinkedIn profile.

Eligible students may also earn academic credit:

Middle school and high school students may receive an official Interlochen transcript awarding 0.5 high school credit. High school credit is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS).
Adults and high school students may receive an official college transcript awarding 3 college credits. College credit is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
High school students may earn both credit and high school credit through the same certificate program.

Private Lessons

When you sign up for weekly private lessons through Interlochen Online, you’ll be paired with an acclaimed professional artist in your chosen discipline. Your instructor will tailor each 50-minute online session to your age, skill level, background, and needs, helping you achieve your personal artistic goals.

Lessons are offered à la carte. Register for your desired number of sessions and add more as needed.
