Follow an Italian family through the turbulent immigration process at Ellis Island in this new chamber opera written and composed by Interlochen Arts Academy students James C. Teti and Alexander Stillwell.
Through music, storytelling, and the intimate voices of a chamber ensemble, the opera explores homesickness, familial love, and the uncertainty of leaving everything you know behind. As the family faces the realities of immigration and a new life in America, their story offers a deeply personal look at the forces that shape who gets to belong.
Featuring singers and chamber orchestra, this original work brings together the talents of students from composition, creative writing, and opera theatre. Directed by Dr. André Peele and conducted by Dr. Laura Osgood Brown.
