Symphonic Band Camp

Strengthen your performance skills. Play challenging repertoire, and make music with fellow musicians from across the country.

At Symphonic Band Camp, you will spend your days immersed in ensemble playing through full-band rehearsals, sectionals, chamber music reading and performances. You’ll also have opportunities to perform side-by-side with Interlochen faculty in rehearsals and concerts, gaining insight from experienced musicians while challenging yourself as a performer. The program features a diverse range of concert band repertoire from established standards to contemporary works. Past seasons have included Suite in E-flat by Gustav Holst, Pines of Rome by Ottorino Respighi, Khan by Julie Giroux, The Thunderer by John Philip Sousa, and world premieres by Jim Stephenson’s Symphony No. 4 for Wind Symphony and Gina Gillie’s Morning Light. Repertoire for the upcoming program will be announced in the spring.

There’s plenty of time to connect outside of rehearsals, too. A special welcome dinner and optional evening activities give you opportunities to get to know your fellow musicians and enjoy the Interlochen experience together. The program culminates in a public performance at Interlochen’s Corson Auditorium giving you the opportunity to showcase what you have learned all week. Whether you’re looking to challenge yourself with new repertoire, strengthen your ensemble skills, or simply spend time making music with other dedicated musicians, Symphonic Band Camp offers an immersive and rewarding musical experience.
