Symphonic Band Camp

Symphonic band rehearsal

Experience the joy of ensemble playing and expand your performance skills in a fun and supportive musical experience.

As a Symphonic Band Camp participant, you’ll be immersed in the vibrant world of instrumental music. You’ll participate in daily ensemble rehearsals, sectionals, and chamber music reading sessions. You’ll also enjoy opportunities to attend master classes and play side-by-side with Interlochen’s world-class faculty in both rehearsals and performances.

Repertoire for the program includes a diverse selection of notable works—from timeless concert band standards to contemporary masterpieces. Highlights of past seasons include Pines of Rome by Ottorino Respighi; "Khan" by Julie Giroux; "The Thunderer" by John Philip Sousa; and the world premieres of Jim Stephenson’s Symphony No. 4 for Wind Symphony and Gina Gillie’s “Morning Light.” Suggested pieces for this year’s program will be posted in the spring of 2025.

Beyond the rehearsal hall, you’ll mingle with your fellow musicians at a special welcome dinner and during optional evening social activities. The program concludes with a public, full-band performance at Interlochen’s Corson Auditorium.

You’ll emerge from the experience with sharpened performance skills, lifelong friendships, and several polished pieces to add to your repertoire list.
