Scarlet Keys' viral TED Talk was recently featured on NPR's TED Radio Hour and her latest book, What If It All Goes Right: Practicing Hope in the Hardest Times, was chosen by neuroscientist Dr. Daniel Levitin for his choice of the most impactful book of 2024 for the Wall Street Journal. Her book, The Craft of Songwriting: Music, Meaning and Emotion is used as a textbook at the Berklee College of Music, North Eastern, and several colleges globally.
Keys is a former staff writer for Warner Chappell and has has several songs placed in film and T.V. Her songs have appeared on national commercials and have been released on the records of other artists culminating in a gold record.
Keys is a highly sought-after educator and has been a professor at the Berklee College of Music since 2003. Some of her past students include: Madi Diaz, Charlie Puth, Laufey, Sofia Isella, Amy Allen, and Lizzie McAlpine.
I want to connect students to their own musical intuition and encourage them to always be true and innovative. They have something to say that only they can say and I want to keep them as close to themselves as possible while guiding and offering craft that will only enhance their individual art.
