Scarlet Keys has been a full-time professor in the Songwriting department at the Berklee College of music since 2003, where she teaches songwriting, lyric writing, performance, piano and upper division songwriting courses. A few of her former students include Charlie Puth, Betty Who, Charlie Worsham, Liz Longley, and Jesse Ruben. Scarlet is a former staff songwriter for Warner/Chappell music publishing and has released two CDs as a solo artist, touring and performing with her original band. She has had songs recorded by other artists spanning the genres of Americana, jazz, country, pop and folk both in the US and in Sweden. Scarlett has earned a gold record and a number #1 song in Britain, and has had songs placed in film, television and national commercials as well. Most recently, Scarlet had a song on the Con-Senses project, a multi-media show created by singer/songwriter Sally Taylor which also featured work from James Taylor, Carly Simon and Jimmy Buffett. She has been published in the Songwriters Market and has recently finished her soon to be released book on songwriting, The Craft of Songwriting: Music, Meaning and Emotion. Scarlet has worked and written with artists Chris Stapleton, Charlie Puth, Melissa Ferrick, and countless others. She continues writing, performing and teaching at Berklee and in clinics across the US and Europe.
