Interdisciplinary Arts Summer Program for Grades 6-8

Why Arts Explorers

Unleash your creativity and collaborate with fellow artists to develop an original presentation, conceived and brought to life by Interdisciplinary Arts Explorers students.

What You'll Learn

Interdisciplinary Arts Explorers: Intermediate students collaborate through writing, theater, visual arts, music, and dance to tell powerful, connected stories. Through daily classes and hands-on projects, students build creative skills, collaborate with peers, and develop an original performance that blends their individual talents into one shared vision. This immersive experience encourages curiosity, confidence, and artistic growth across multiple disciplines.

All Interdisciplinary Arts students take the following classes:

  • Creative Writing: Participate in imaginative writing exercises, short reading activities, informal discussion, and free writing time. Develop compelling themes and ideas to shape your original presentation.
  • Introduction to Theater and Acting: Gain foundational skills for collaboration through voice and movement exercises, improvisation, theatre games, and scripted material.
  • Visual Arts and Design Thinking: Experiment with a variety of media while focusing on how visual art can tell a story.
  • Music and Sound Exploration: Study with professional musicians and learn to sing and make songs and sounds that transform a story into a journey of discovery.
  • Dance: Explore a variety of dance forms in a safe, challenging, and creative environment, growing your ability to express yourself through movement.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration Project: Dedicate part of each day to building and workshopping a collective project, creating an original piece that fuses art forms and explores the dynamic relationships between different artistic disciplines.

Quote

It is a wonderful camp and I think everyone should have a chance to enjoy it, not only because of the arts it offers, but because of the camp experiences you go through.
