In Memoriam: September 2025
Steve Hayden (IAC/NMC 62, IAA 62-64, Life Trustee) of Bellport, New York, passed away on Aug. 27, 2025. A member of the Advertising Hall of Fame, Hayden was best known as the creative force behind Apple’s legendary “1984” Super Bowl commercial. Hayden held positions at Chiat/Day and BBDO before joining Ogilvy & Mather, rising through the ranks over his 20-year career with the agency to become vice chairman. A Camp alumnus and member of the inaugural Interlochen Arts Academy class, Hayden was an ardent champion for Interlochen throughout his lifetime. He served two terms as a member of Interlochen’s Board of Trustees (1993-2011 and 2012-21), including a four-year tenure as Board Chair from 2007-10. During his two terms on the Board, Hayden was an active member of the COVID-19 Task Force; Chair of the Communications & Engagement Committee; and a vital leader of the 2020 brand and logo update. Hayden also gave generously to Interlochen—supporting the Music Center, the Annual Fund, Interlochen Public Radio, and more—and gave the 2019 Interlochen Arts Academy commencement address.
