Why take Acoustic Guitar Techniques


Join Interlochen College of Creative Arts' faculty members Matthew Schroeder and Thomas Clippert for this exciting one-day workshop in Acoustic Guitar Techniques. 

Participants in this course will enjoy two 90-minute sessions with an opportunity to practice with peers and network. The day will conclude with a performance by instructors Matthew Schroeder and Thomas Clippert. This program is perfect if you're seeking to brush up or improve your skills in acoustic and fingerstyle technique or seeking a refresher on technique in preparation for the four-day Acoustic Guitar Retreat. Participants should have at least one year of serious guitar study, including a basic understanding of general chord shapes, and familiarity with standard notation or tablature. Students must supply their own steel-string acoustic guitar.

K-12 Educators: Earn 3 State of Michigan SCECH clock hours by attending Acoustic Guitar Techniques.

Required Supplies: 
Attendees must supply their own acoustic guitar with a protective case or gig bag.  A steel-string acoustic guitar is preferred but a nylon string “classical” guitar will also work.  Attendees should also have a capo, clip-on chromatic tuner and an extra set of strings.  

Additional Optional Supplies:
Guitar stand, pencils, a notebook for notes and a folder for handouts.
