Bring the family and join us Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024 at Interlochen Center for the Arts for a fantastic day filled with FREE multidisciplinary art activities. Conduct an orchestra, perform in an acting workshop, learn to swing dance, and so much more! End the day with a free arts performance by Interlochen Arts Academy students!

|Sledding & Outdoor Fun||All Ages||Opera Field||It's a winter wonderland! Come to the Opera field to take part in a variety of activities including sledding on the famous Winterlochen Mountain!|
|Summer Camp at Interlochen||All Ages||Harvey 106||Interested in summer camp opportunities? Stop by the admission table to learn more about Interlochen's new Arts Discovery day camp for students ages 7 - 12! This week by week day camp offers local students a chance to experience some of the magic of an Interlochen summer at a reduced cost, while also remaining flexible to family summer schedules.|
|Seed Bombs||All Ages||Harvey 106||Join Interlochen's Sustainability Department to learn about native plants and flowers and their importance in our ecosystem. Create a native seed bomb to fill our campus with flowers this spring and learn how to replicate this easy, nature-loving craft at home!|
|String Wave Science Experiment||All Ages||Harvey 106||Have you ever wondered how guitars, violins, and other string instruments make music? Explore the science of standing waves in a hands-on experiment for kids.|
|Story Time with Interlochen Public Library||All Ages||The Writing House||Warm up and wind down with story time by the Writing House's indoor fireplace! Join Interlochen Public Library for live readings of fantastical stories, or choose a book from the mobile library for independent reading.|
|Face Painting||Ages 3+||Harvey 1||Have the Interlochen Makeup Design Class turn your face into a fabulous creation.|
|Thaumatrope Making Booth||Ages 3+||Harvey 1||The basis for all animation begins with this simple toy.|
|Summer Camp Crafts||Ages 5+||Harvey 106||Make a Michigan songbird pin, start a friendship bracelet in this space designed to make you dream of summer camp.|
|Animation Study||Ages 8+||Harvey 1||An interactive demonstration of animation for older students.|

|11 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.||Postcard Poems||Ages 7+||The Writing House||Choose from a variety of prompts to write and illustrate a short “postcard poem” that can be mailed to a friend or taken home as a keepsake.|
|11 a.m. to 11:40 a.m.||Swing Dance||All Ages||Music Center 1008||Drop in and swing dance with the Interlochen Tap Dance Club, with music provided by the Arts Academy Jazz Orchestra!|

|11:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.||Acting Workshop||Ages 7 to 9||Harvey Theatre||Explore the three main tools of the actor: the voice, the body, and the imagination. Engage in theatre exercises and activities that teach fundamental acting skills.|

|12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.||Toddler Jam!||All Ages||Dennison Center||Dance, skip, and sing to popular kids’ tunes—a great chance to “get the wiggles out” in a big empty room!|

|12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.||Frankenprint||All Ages||Dow Center for Visual Arts||Come bend reality with this interactive printmaking activity! Make your own prints using the exquisite corpse drawing game.|
|12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.||Beads, Beads, and More Beads||All Ages||Dow Center for Visual Arts||Participants of all ages can create their very own necklace that incorporates a variety of beads in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Learn simple beading techniques while exploring this hands on activity.|
|12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.||Wearable Wonders||All Ages||Dow Center for Visual Arts||Transform an ordinary t-shirt into a wearable piece of artwork right before your eyes. The only thing to stop you is your imagination.|
|12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.||Giant Self-Portraits||All Ages||Dow Center for Visual Arts||Have a buddy trace your outline on large paper, and decorate yourself with pattern, color, and texture. We will use painting, drawing, and collage materials to create a giant portrait of our community.|
|12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.||Virtual Sculpture||All Ages||Dow Center for Visual Arts (outdoor tent)||We’ll be creating a multi person masterpiece in virtual space, come by and plan on wearing a virtual reality headset. You can make anything you can imagine!|
|12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.||Mural Madness||All Ages||Dow Center for Visual Arts||Paint, graffiti, drawing, and stamping are all fair game in this collaborative, 40-foot mural. We will work together to make a large-scale themed work of art!|

|1 p.m. to 2 p.m.||Rock Band Petting Zoo||All Ages||Music Center 1010||Have you ever wanted to play in a rock band? Try out your skills on bass, guitar, and drums with the help of students from our own Arts Academy Pop Ensemble.|
|1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.||Winterlochen Parade!||All Ages||Starts/Ends at Corson Auditorium||Listen for the drums at 1:30p.m.! Join the Traverse City West High School Drum Line on a parade around campus that will lead all to Corson Auditorium for the performance of Cinderella.|
|2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.||Cinderella||All Ages||Corson Auditorium||The enchanting fairy tale comes to life as the Arts Academy Dance Division performs the ballet adaptation of Cinderella.|
