Steve Myerson is Instructor of Jazz Piano at Interlochen Arts Academy. Myerson is a highly regarded pianist, composer, and educator known for his versatile and soulful approach to music. He is currently the pianist for NEA Jazz Master George Coleman Quintet. Myerson's journey has seen him perform with a diverse array of world-class artists, including renowned bassist Christian McBride, legendary saxophonist Grover Washington Jr., and the iconic sound of Philadelphia group The Stylistics. Myerson has studied over the years with Trudy Pitts, Bill Charlap, Harold Mabern, Jim Ridl, Andy Laverne, Geoffrey Keezer, and James Williams. These mentor teachers significantly shaped his artistry. In addition to his performance career, Myerson is a passionate educator, sharing his knowledge with aspiring musicians. Recently, Myerson taught adjunct professor of jazz piano at William Paterson University, and privately at Lindeblad School of Music. Originally from New Jersey, and musically from Philadelphia, Myerson now lives full time in Traverse City, Michigan with his wife Kelly, son CJ, and Cavapoo daughter named Olive.

My teaching goals are to encourage a love for music, to inspire students to discover their unique creativity, and to help students reach excellence in every aspect of their journey including academics, musicianship, health and wellness, and life.
