About Rachel

Recognized for her “utmost care” in performance, pianist Rachel Sohn maintains an active career as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist. She regularly collaborates with singers and instrumentalists in recital, chamber music, and competition settings, and has appeared on various concert stages throughout the United States and abroad.

Recent festival appearances include the 2024 Tanglewood Music Festival, the 2023 Ascent Chamber Music Festival, the 2022 Chautauqua Piano Institute, and the 2020 Hiiumaa Homecoming Festival, where she studied with artists including Kirill Gerstein, Jeremy Denk, Boris Petrushansky, and Jon Nakamatsu.

Sohn is currently pursuing a Doctor of Music degree in Music Literature and Piano Performance at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, with minors in Music History and Collaborative Piano. Alongside her doctoral studies, she has served as an Associate Instructor of Piano at Jacobs, teaching both group piano classes and private lessons for university students. She has also worked as an instructor with the Jacobs Young Pianist Program over the last several years, further expanding her experience working with young musicians.

Her primary teachers include Evelyne Brancart, with whom she previously earned her Master of Music degree, and Anne Epperson. She was formerly under the tutelage of Alexander Kobrin at the Eastman School of Music, where she received her Bachelor of Music degree with High Distinction.
