Noah Jackson is a Grammy-nominated bassist, cellist, and composer born and based in Detroit, Michigan. Most recently, Jackson served as Artistic Director of Cliff Bell's, one of Detroit's premier jazz venues, where he built one of the city's most consistent jazz programs. He was featured in DownBeat Magazine in 2026, one of the most respected publications in jazz. Jackson also has been an artist instructor for masterclasses on jazz music at Historically Black Colleges and Universities as part of Jazz at Lincoln Center's initiative: "Black, Brown, and Beige."

Jackson has performed at the highest levels of the art form, sharing stages with Kenny Barron, Branford Marsalis, the Marsalis Family Band, Abdullah Ibrahim, Hugh Masekela, Kenny Garrett, Terence Blanchard, Ravi Coltrane, and Terri Lynne Carrington. He has appeared at major festivals worldwide, including the London Jazz Festival, Joy of Jazz in Johannesburg, Jazz à Marciac, North Sea Jazz, and the Nice Jazz Festival.

Jackson's foundation was built in Detroit through the DSO Civic Jazz Orchestra under the mentorship of Marcus Belgrave and Professor Rodney Whitaker, with whom he later studied at Michigan State University. He completed his graduate training at Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Jackson is currently in Detroit, MI.

I want my students to have a sense of curiosity, agency, and resilience in their practices and habits as well as gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the context of the music they come to learn. It is important to build a sense of responsibility to the music as it is to gain from it.
