About Narine

Narine Kchikian is a practicing studio artist, faculty at Henry Ford College and University of Michigan Stamps pre-college programs, and an independent curator. Kchikian teaches at Interlochen Arts Camp during the summer, and via Interlochen Online during the academic year. She received her B.F.A. in Fine Arts with a minor in Fiber from the College for Creative Studies, and her M.F.A. in Sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art. She has been teaching at various colleges and programs around Detroit and Michigan, lecturing as a visiting artist, giving workshops and technical demonstrations. She was born in Kazakhstan and moved to Detroit, where she is an active member of the art community. Kchikian have been exhibiting her work nationally and internationally. Her work investigates the act of creating everyday reality and the role that personal experiences play in it.

I encourage my students to experiment and challenge themselves in a search of their personal voice.
