Mike Shea
About Mike
Mike Shea has been a Michigan-based professional drummer and percussionist for over 20 years. His combination of power and finesse behind the drums have taken him everywhere from Alaska to Royal Albert Hall in London. His versatility and supportive energy has made him one of the top-call drummers in Michigan.
As a student at Plymouth-Canton High School, Shea performed with their competitive marching band winning the State Championship all four years, and the BOA Grand National Championship in 1999. In 2003, Shea moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan to earn a percussion performance degree from University of Michigan.
Shea has toured extensively across North America and overseas, including festivals such as Lollapalooza, Summer Camp, and SXSW. He’s played with a wide variety of acts around the Midwest including My Dear Disco/Ella Riot, Theo Katzman, Lucas Paul Band, Your Generation in Concert, Laith Al-Saadi, and many others.
In addition to his playing career, Shea has been a music educator for 20+ years teaching private lessons, middle & high school music programs, and marching band/drumlines. He is excited to be sharing his expertise at Interlochen’s Popular Music program.
