About Mike

Mike Hanus (AS 92-94) is a three-time alumnus of the Interlochen All-State Program and studied piano for nearly 15 years, as well as organ and guitar for several years. He is currently Senior Institutional Research Analyst at the University of Chicago. He previously worked as Analyst and Associate at Slover Linett Audience Research, as a Benchmarking Analyst at Victoria University of Wellington New Zealand, and as a contract research analyst for Huron Consulting Group.

Mike has also worked full-time as a solo contractor, conducting primary research for the education, arts and culture, and nonprofit sectors. He has conducted hundreds of studies across a range of constituent groups (students, alumni, prospects, donors, attendees and ticket buyers, etc.) and has a depth of experience in audience satisfaction, engagement, and communications.

Mike currently volunteers for Interlochen's Annual Fund and the Engagement Council, where he hopes to make a positive impact, particularly in broadening and deepening student/parent/alumni engagement with an institution he cares so much about.

My time as an Interlochen camper was brief yet incredibly impactful - both personally and as a musician. I'm excited to work with the Engagement Council and the amazing Interlochen staff to help ensure the same experience is available for the next generation of young artists!
