Mari Kimenker
About Mari
Mari Kimenker is a singer/songwriter and producer based in NJ/NYC, and will be an Instructor of Music for Summer 2026 at Interlochen Arts Camp. Kimenker graduated from NYU in 2024 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Theory and Composition: Contemporary Production and Songwriting. At NYU, Kimenker was awarded the NYU Steinhardt Songwriting Scholar Award 2023 by the Songwriter's Hall of Fame for students who "hold great potential for success." He has a broad understanding of theory, notation, lyricism, Logic ProX, and the ins and outs of the songwriting/production process. At Interlochen, Kimenker establishes a collaborative and exploratory environment in each class. He designs and leads generative creative exercises that help students develop original material while building skills in music theory, lyric writing, song structure, and contemporary production techniques. His teaching focuses on guiding students from initial ideas through fully realized songs while encouraging experimentation and individual artistic voice. In May 2025 he released his debut album, "Self-Alliance," and is currently working on his second body of work. When Kimenker isn't writing or recording, he is employed as an RBT in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis, working diligently towards his BCBA credential as well as graduate studies. His knowledge allows him to cultivate engaging classroom environments rooted in the love of music and learning, while prioritizing the needs of all students who walk through his door.
Writer's block is an illusion. We will pull from the inspiration of a pebble if we have to, and students will realize that there is always something to write about!
