About Lee
Lee Hittner-Cunningham is a writer based in Queens, New York. Hittner-Cunningham is an instructor of college writing at Fordham University and runs creative writing workshops for high school students through The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College. Recent publication credits include Hobart After Dark, X-R-A-Y Literary Magazine, and Longleaf Review.
My teaching philosophy begins with the belief that the skills of an effective writer are also those of an engaged and caring citizen. I aim to help students understand that we are shaped by the words we use and hear to describe ourselves, others, and our world—and that this truth should motivate us to be intentional in our use of language.
