Landon Kately
About Landon
Landon Kately is a third-year student at Northwestern State University, where he recently directed, produced, music directed, and choreographed Our Stories, a Black student theater and dance showcase featuring works from Once on This Island, Carrie: The Musical, The Wiz, and choreography inspired by Alvin Ailey. Kately has also performed in approximately 17 musical theater productions and two straight plays, with notable roles including Sebastian in The Little Mermaid, Patrick Star in SpongeBob the Musical, and Enjolras in Les Misérables.
At Interlochen Arts Camp, Kately previously served as a choreographer for the Intermediate division and later choreographed the junior musical Finn. During his time at Interlochen, he developed a strong passion for arts education and collaborative performance-making, describing the experience as one of the most meaningful in his artistic journey.
Kately continues to expand his work as both a performer and creative, with a focus on storytelling that uplifts diverse voices and blends theater and dance.
I create choreography that is clean, engaging, and fun, helping dancers feel confident while performing. I focus on musicality and emotion, encouraging performers to truly connect to what they’re doing. I also highlight each dancer’s strengths to make the performance more dynamic and expressive.
