John Aley

About John

John Aley has performed extensively throughout the U. S. and internationally. He is Principal trumpet with the Madison Symphony.

Performed with Buffalo Philharmonic, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Wichita, Stamford, Greenwich Symphonies, and New York ensembles such as the American Symphony and Brooklyn Philharmonic.

Worked with luminaries Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copland. Former member of the American Brass Quintet.

Soloist with the English Chamber Orchestra and Vienna Chamber Orchestra with Maurice Andre.

Recordings include the ABQ, PDQ Bach, Wisconsin Brass Quintet, and solo CD Autumn. Performed in Cuba for the 500th Anniversary of Santiago, in Mexico City and Toluca.

Artist/faculty with the Aspen Music Festival and Yale Summer Music. Performer, clinician, and adjudicator for the International Trumpet Guild and National Trumpet Competition.

Former faculty (1981-2017) and now Professor Emeritus (2017-) at University Wisconsin-Madison School of Music; Brooklyn College, Wichita State, and Western Connecticut State College.

Valade Fellow/Trumpet at the Interlochen Center for the Arts and Interlochen Trumpet Intensive faculty.

Let's work together to initially establish the student's strengths. This knowledge is then utilized to support and encourage growth and comprehension of the many other required pedagogical and musical parameters of trumpet performance. This approach paves the way for the student to develop into a positive person and expressive musician.
