Joe Kovac

About Joe

Joe Kovac is a cellist and music educator from Macon, Georgia. He is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he is the teaching assistant to Alan Rafferty of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He also serves as Adjunct Instructor of Cello and part-time Music Theory Faculty at Northern Kentucky University. Kovac recently joined the Cincinnati String Project faculty as a music theory teacher and chamber music coach. An active performer, he plays with ensembles including the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, and Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Kovac was a finalist for the 2023 Montgomery Symphony Orchestra Cello Fellowship and a fellow at the National Repertory Orchestra in 2021 and 2022. He is the co-founder and cellist in the Cincinnati-based string duo Atlantic Harmony with his wife, Shannon Mustard.
