About Joe

A “tour de force” performer (Seen and Heard International), percussionist Joseph Bricker joins the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra as Associate Principal Timpani/Percussion at the start of the 2022-23 season. He has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, Houston Symphony, New World Symphony, the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet, and several others. In the summers, he has been awarded fellowships with the Verbier Festival Orchestra, Tanglewood Music Center, Pacific Music Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival. Joe can be heard as composer/performer on a 2017 advertisement for TaylorMade-Adidas featuring Tiger Woods. He has studied at the Interlochen Arts Camp, DePaul University with Cynthia Yeh, and The Juilliard School under Greg Zuber.

Joe made his concerto debut in 2015 under Robert Hasty and the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra, and has since won competitions at the Aspen Music Festival (2016), National Public Radio’s “From the Top” (2015), WFMT’s “Introductions” (2015), and the Discover National Chamber Music Competition (2015); he was also the recipient of the 2017 Kerope Zildjian Scholarship. As an educator, he has been engaged as a Teaching Artist by The Juilliard School’s Music Advancement Program and Pre-College Division, the Aspen Music Festival, and the People’s Music School.
