About Jim

Jim Seeley is a trumpet/flugelhorn composer/arranger and educator who has performed, recorded, and toured with an extensive list of well known artists including Ray Charles, Greg Allman, Lester Bowie's Brass Fantasy, The Duke Ellington Orchestra, The Art Ensemble of Chicago, The Machito Orchestra, Chucho Valdez, Chico O'Farrill, and numerous others.

As an original member of The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Arturo O'Farrill, Seeley has performed and been featured on ten Grammy winning recordings.

As an educator, Seeley has been on the faculty of The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Jazz @ Lincoln Center, and is currently Trumpet Instructor and Improvisation Teacher for The Afro Latin Jazz Alliance and Trumpet Instructor for The All City Latin Orchestra in NYC.

Seeley is endorsed by Bach Musical Instruments and performed exclusively on Bach trumpets.

My aim is to assess a student's goals and needs and to then develop a comprehensive practice regimen to address those needs and to periodically adjust the practice as those goals and needs evolve.

Have collaborated with a number of well known artists in wide variety of musical styles, from Jazz, Pop, Blues, Latin, Commercial, etc. including Ray Charles, Maynard Ferguson, Greg Allman, Lester Bowie, The Duke Ellington Orchestra, The Art Ensemble of Chicago, Chico O'Farrill, The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Arturo O'Farrill, and many more.
Have been on the faculty of The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Jazz @ Lincoln Center, and currently the Trumpet Instructor for The Afro Latin Jazz Alliance and The All City Latin Orchestra.
Involved with conducting Master Classes and private lessons in NY and abroad for many years.
