About Hans

Hans Grim is a musical theatre collaborative pianist at Interlochen Arts Camp, where he brings decades of experience in music direction, choral conducting, and musical theatre performance. A frequent music director for Dallas’ Lyric Stage and a long-time educator, Grim has conducted or played over 50 musical theatre productions across Texas, including Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, and Ragtime.

Grim currently serves as Head Choir Director at Alvarado High School and is a regular assistant conductor with the Dallas Symphony Children’s Chorus. He has also served as guest musical director/conductor at Texas Christian University, Abilene Christian University, and Southern Methodist University. As a versatile musician, Grim has accompanied TMEA Region Choirs, college recitals, and international tours, including a 16-city tour of China as guest pianist with the Texas Boys Choir.

In addition to his educational and performance work, Grim is an active arranger and music technologist, known for integrating innovative rehearsal tools and student-centered approaches. Grim’s work reflects a lifelong commitment to inspiring young artists and fostering joyful, high-level musical collaboration.

I believe in creating a joyful, focused environment where students feel safe to take creative risks. My goal is to empower young artists to listen deeply, collaborate generously, and bring their whole selves to the music.

  • Assistant Conductor, Dallas Symphony Children’s Chorus (2021–present)
  • Collaborative Pianist for TMEA Region Choirs, TCDA clinics, and university-level recitals

  • Served as a TMEA Region Choir Contest Coordinator and UIL Judge
  • Currently developing a wireless cue system for theatrical productions using ESP32 microcontrollers
