About Hannah

Hailed for her “burnished vocalism and enchanting manner” (South Florida Classical Review), soprano Hannah Penzner is drawn to choral music, opera, and concert work alike. While at the Frost School of Music she portrayed Mrs. Fiorentino in Kurt Weill's Street Scene, Mamah Borthwick in the world premiere of Stained Glass by Shawn Crouch, Baby Doe from The Ballad of Baby Doe, and covered Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro. She performed the soprano solos in Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the Arizona Philharmonic and Quartz Ensemble, Orff’s Carmina Burana with Princeton Pro Musica and the Frost School of Music, respectively, and Villa-Lobos’ Bachianas Brasilieres No. 5 with Celli at Berkeley. While at the Frost, Penzner performed solos in Sarah Kirkland Snyder’s Mass for the Endangered, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and Vaughn-Williams’ Serenade to Music with the Frost Chorale, conducted by Amanda Quist. Penzner performed in the Miami premiere for Frank La Rocca's Requiem for the Forgotten, made possible through the Benedict XVI Institute. A member of GRAMMY® Award-winning ensemble Tonality for several years, Penzner can be heard on the soundtracks of movies such as Warner Brothers’s Space Jam: A New Legacy and Netflix’s Spiderhead, as well as on Tonality’s albums Sing About It and America Will Be. Penzner attended the Spoleto Festival USA as a Vocal Fellow in summer 2024 and 2025, where she sang with the Spoleto Festival Chorus in Haydn’s Creation, the Bach B-minor mass, and choral concerts with Joe Miller. Penzner is a member of GRAMMY® Award-nominated ensemble Seraphic Fire, going on tour with them last December for their tour through southern Florida. She now lives in New York City and sings at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church as a regular member of the professional choir, and frequently subs at Trinity Wall Street.

First and foremost I teach healthy singing. I encourage my students to use their whole body to support their voice so they can feel confidant and strong. Singing is fun, I always bring a lightheartedness and a joy to my lessons so my students can feel emboldened and self-assured.
