About Fatima
Fatima Bawah (they/them) is a multifaceted director, teaching artist, and administrator based in Brooklyn, NY. With a background in Acting, Vocal Music, and Psychology, Fatima is deeply committed to fostering creative expression and building inclusive, empowering spaces for young artists and collaborators.
Bawah’s recent directorial credits include Newsies Jr., Seussical Jr., Marilda Jr. (Brooklyn Music School), The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Betka Pope Productions), He and She (Aquinas College), and Godspell Jr. (St. Thomas). As a performer, they have appeared as Joanne Jefferson in Rent, Chiffon in Little Shop of Horrors, Tituba in The Crucible, and Ensemble/Mama Euralie understudy in Once on This Island.
Dedicated to creating safe and supportive environments for artists of all backgrounds, Bawah has served on the board of Black Art Matters (BAM), advocating for the flourishing of POC artists. They will begin their MFA in Directing at Northwestern University in Fall 2026.
I strive to create a nurturing, inclusive space where every young artist feels empowered to explore, imagine, and express their unique voice. My approach blends curiosity, storytelling, and collaboration to help students grow with confidence and joy.
