Cyn Vargas is the author of On The Way, named one of Book Scrolling’s Best Short Story Collections of All Time, and the novel Nothing’s Ever the Same, which earned a starred review from Booklist. Her fiction has appeared in Split Lip, Word Riot, and Literary Orphans, and was featured in the Chicago Reader’s Fiction Issue. Her work was also performed on NPR’s Selected Shorts by Sonia Manzano of Sesame Street. She is the winner of the Guild Literary Complex Award in Fiction and a semi-finalist for the Holland Prize in Fiction. Cyn's work draws on her Mayan, Guatemalan, and Salvadoran roots for its cultural depth and emotional resonance. She was named Instructor of the Year by the Stories Matter Foundation in 2022, is a board member of Hypertext Studio, and frequently teaches at StoryStudio Chicago and national residencies. She has also been a featured speaker for the University of Illinois Chicago’s Center for Latinx Literature of the Americas.
