About Christopher

Christopher Minami, guitar, native of Florida, recently completed his Masters in Jazz Studies at the Michigan State University College of Music. Minami is currently performing throughout Michigan sharing the stage with jazz greats such as Rodney Whitaker, Randy Gelispie, Xavier Davis, and Paul Keller. Minami completed his undergraduate degree in both classical guitar and jazz genre at Florida State University’s College of Music in the studio of Bruce Holzman. While on campus, Minami participated with the Jazz Honors Band under Marcus Roberts' mentorship. Additionally, Minami performs with the Tallahassee Symphony Jazz Orchestra. Through his young career, Minami has received numerous awards for both classical and jazz guitar including the prestigious Florida Guitar Festival and Competition. Minami has participated in masterclasses for both jazz and classical guitar under the tutelage of four of the greatest talents, including classical guitarists David Russell and Pepe Romero and jazz greats Jason Marsalis and Monty Alexander.
