About Christine

Christine Stinchi, hornist, is a doctoral student at Rutgers University, studying with New York Philharmonic’s Richard Deane. Stinchi is on horn faculty at Interlochen Arts Camp. Stinchi’s article, “The Hunting Horn Topic as a Bridge Between Two Horn Sonatas” will be featured in a 2023 publication of The Horn Call. Stinchi is also part of a female horn quartet that performed at the 51st International Horn Symposium in Gent, Belgium, in 2019. The quartet is currently launching a series of performances that will feature both classical and contemporary music covers, from Mozart and Ella Fitzgerald to The Weeknd and Taylor Swift. Stinchi earned her Master of Music in Horn Performance from the University of Maryland and bachelor’s degrees in horn performance and music education from the University of Michigan. Stinchi is also a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy.

My teaching approach is rooted in fostering great musicianship centered around secure listening skills. In lessons, I include mindfulness and breathing techniques, healthy practice habits, and goal setting. While I believe it is vital to hold students to high standards of musicianship, inspiring them to keep it fun is key.
