Cassandra Anouthay teaches English at Interlochen Arts Academy and College Essay Writing with Interlochen Online. Before joining Interlochen, she taught English at Benzie Central High School and Harbor Lights Middle School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Aquinas College with a minor in Bilingual Spanish and completed her teacher certification in Secondary Education.

Reading is not just a skill to be learned but a means of connecting with the diverse experiences of others. Literature can cultivate understanding and empathy. This sometimes requires engaging with texts that challenge our thinking about ourselves and the world around us. It is important to me to create a classroom environment where students feel safe to share their perspectives and ask questions.
