About Brad

Brad Novak is a drummer and educator based in Traverse City, Michigan. He has played drums and percussion for the past 35 years. In that time he has recorded, toured, and performed with The Accidentals, Joe Welsh, Sommerson, The Amanda Waggener Band, Kristine Seeley, John Pomeroy, Brian Whitscell, Miriam Pico, David Chown, and Dominic Fortuna. Novak has also served on teams alongside Abe Laboriel, Sr., John Carlson, Justo Almario, Rene Ladesma, Paul Langford, Joe Horness, Buddy Rich, and Rick Culver

In addition to teaching drum set at Interlochen Arts Academy, Novak is also the owner and operator of The Beat Lab, a music education facility based in Traverse City, Michigan. He has taught drums and percussion for schools in the Traverse City area, and is an instructor of drums and percussion for Northwestern Michigan College. He has also worked with several high school marching bands in both Michigan and Indiana.

Novak studied drum set at Berklee College of Music with Larry Finn and Pete Magadini, and later transferred to Central Michigan University where he studied percussion with both David Zerbe and Robert Hohner.
