About Anthony

Tony Bero is a husband, father, pianist, guitarist, vocalist, and teacher who has lived and worked in northern Michigan since 2000. He is a whirlwind of musical energy who makes a career out of juggling many musical projects.

Bero is a private piano instructor to 30 students ranging in age from seven to 80. His students have gone on to study music at Central Michigan University, Northern Michigan University, Interlochen Arts Academy, Interlochen Arts Camp, and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. This is his second summer teaching at Interlochen Arts Camp. Bero has also spent the last eight years as choir/music director at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Suttons Bay, Michigan.

From 2017 to 2021, Bero was the producer of Kids Commute from Interlochen Public Radio. Together with the show's host, Kate Botello, he won back-to-back bronze awards in 2018 and 2019 from the New York Festivals Radio Awards in the category ‘Best Children/Young Adult Program.’

In 2013, Bero co-founded Mashup Rock & Roll Musical with his wife and creative partner, Lesley Tye. Together, they have produced ten original productions, two web series, two Queer Cabarets, and two COVID-safe parking lot musicals, Scooby Doo-Wop, and Scooby Doo-Wop Two-Wop, presented during the time when we could leave our homes, but before theaters could be open to the public again.

With his limited remaining free time, Bero plays in a rock band, Harvey Bridge, which has released an album of original music, The Word I Heard. Links to all of this can be found on Bero's website.

I will bend over backwards to help you have fun making music, because 'fun' is the whole point of making music in the first place. That's why we call it 'playing!'
