About Anne

Dr. Anne Lewis is Department Chair and Professor of Music & Musical Theatre at Averett University in Danville, Virginia.

Lewis has sung with vocal ensembles at Carnegie Hall and on European tours, and currently sings professionally with Bel Canto Company in Greensboro, North Carolina. As a conductor, Lewis is music director for the Averett University Singers, and directs musicals from children's shows and community theatre through university productions. Lewis is also an active collaborator and coach for student and professional vocal and instrumental recitals. Particular performance interests include music by women composers and American music.

Lewis is honored and grateful to have shared musical creativity with Intermediate singing actors for over 25 years at Interlochen Arts Camp.

My job as a musical theatre educator is to provide the tools for young actors to discover and refine their unique voice through technique and life experience.
