About Amy

Amy Wares Edelson is an Interlochen Alumna who spent three wonderful summers studying musical theatre and Shakespeare as a High School Girls Camper. She has been teaching drama and directing plays in the San Francisco Bay Area for almost 25 years, where she lives with her husband, two teenage daughters, and their adorable dog. She is the co-chair of the performing arts department at Marin Country Day School, where she has spent the last decade teaching middle school drama and directing three annual productions.

Edelson has performed professionally with theatre companies in Chicago, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area. She graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern University, where she majored in theatre. There she studied with Tony Award winning directors Frank Galati and Mary Zimmerman. She also trained with the British American Drama Academy in Oxford, England and received her Teacher’s Credential from San Francisco State University. Edelson is thrilled to return to Interlochen after so many years away.

My objective is to create a safe, clear, collaborative, and “drama-free” community where students gain confidence in their artistic abilities.
