About Amanda

Amanda Lifvendahl is Interlochen Center for the Art’s Costume Shop Supervisor and Lead Designer. Before coming to Interlochen, she spent 16 years working in Chicago at Broadway Costumes, Inc. as the Theatrical Show Rentals Manager and as a freelance costume designer, technician, and wardrobe supervisor in the Chicagoland area. Her work was seen at The Goodman Theatre, The Royal George Theatre, The Black Orchid Room at Pipers Alley, The Mercury Theatre, Breadline Theatre, and Steppenwolf Theatre. She has worked regionally as a costume designer and technician, having her work seen at The Utah Shakespeare Festival; Iowa's Riverside Theatre and Cornell College; Pennsylvania Centre Stage; Playhouse in the Square and Circuit Playhouse in Memphis, TN; and Northwestern University.

Recent designs for the Interlochen Shakespeare Festival are A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Measure for Measure, Comedy of Errors, Niceties, and Sanctuary City. For Comedy of Errors, her design won a 2024 Wilde Award for Best Costume Design.

Recent IAA and IAC designs include Muse the Musical (both the Interlochen/New York production and the recent 2026 Edinburgh Fringe Festival production), An American in Paris, Anything Goes, The Birds, Tartuffe, the ballets Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Interlochen’s annual The Nutcracker production. She recently had the pleasure and honor of mentoring and co-designing with IAA student designers for Interlochen’s Imagine US tour with Yo Yo Ma.
