In Memoriam: August 2026
Dr. Charles “Chuck” Kelly (IAC/NMC 43-46) of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away June 26, 2026. Chuck began his eight-decade involvement with Interlochen as a student, studying clarinet in the Camp’s All-State Division for four summers. He later became a proud Camp parent and served on Interlochen’s Board of Trustees from 1984 to 2004. During his two decades on the Board, Chuck lent his time and expertise to numerous committees and projects. Deeply committed to securing Interlochen’s future, Chuck was an original member of the Planned Giving Committee, which was instrumental in launching Interlochen’s planned giving program in 1992. Beyond his leadership, his own philanthropy supported the Interlochen Arts Camp endowed Waldemar and Mary Ellen Lungershausen Scholarship and, more recently, the construction of Dow House.
