Dr. William L. Kopp, MD (IAC/NMC 43-45; IAC St 46-52, 84-90, 92, 94; IAC Fac 91) of Madison, Wisconsin, passed away January 26, 2026.
Jean Carr Trimble (IAC/NMC 44-45) of Portland, Oregon, passed away October 4, 2025.
Warren Richard Mikula (IAC/NMC 45) of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away March 5, 2026.
Burton H. Singer (IAC/NMC 46-50) passed away February 15, 2026.
Joan Catherine Nelsen (IAC/NMC 48-49) of Holland, Michigan, passed away March 13, 2026.
Mary A. Tolley (IAC/NMC 50-51) of Sarasota, Florida, passed away January 24, 2026. She was the wife of Interlochen life trustee James Tolley. An avid flute and piano player, she spoke of her time at Interlochen as “the best 16 weeks of [her] growing up years.” Mary played in the Holland High School Band and concert band, the Flint Symphony, and the Suncoast Concert Band, where she enjoyed playing duets with the principal flute of the Sarasota Orchestra. She sent her sons David and Jim Jr. to Interlochen in later years, and never forgot her many friends at National Music Camp and Interlochen.
Patricia Fink Bair (IAC St 52-55) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away April 3, 2026.
Ellen Weatherbee (IAC/NMC 52-56, UNIV 57-58) of Pinckney, Michigan, passed away April 5, 2026. Ellen was a botanist, educator, and musician who changed how generations of people looked at the natural world. She founded and coordinated the Adult Education Program at the University of Michigan's Matthaei Botanical Gardens, where she taught botany for more than four decades. Ellen maintained a special devotion to Interlochen, attending camp for seven summers, and serving her fellow alumni for 16 years, first on the Alumni Board and then on the Engagement Council. She was also a proud Camp and Academy grandparent.
