Whether you're looking to improve your technique, learn new repertoire, or simply enjoy playing in a string ensemble, the String Orchestra Retreat offers an enriching and fulfilling experience.

In this three-day program, you'll learn from world-renowned string faculty, perform in a public concert, and make long-lasting friendships with string enthusiasts from across the country.

The program will feature:

  • Master classes
  • Daily ensemble rehearsals and sectionals
  • Faculty/participant side-by-side performance opportunities
  • Social activities designed to build community among participants

The repertoire for the 2026 String Orchestra Retreat will be announced closer to the start of the program. Selections from previous sessions include:

  • Holberg Suite, Op. 40 - Edvard Grieg
  • Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46, The Death of Aase - Edvard Grieg
  • Romanian Folk Dances - Bela Bartok (arr. Arthur Willner)
  • Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, K. 525 - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
  • Gymnopedie No. 1 - Erik Satie
  • Eleanor Rigby - The Beatles
  • Mamma Mia! - ABBA

K-12 educators in Michigan can earn SCECH clock hours by attending the String Orchestra Retreat.
