Camp Ambassador Application
Apply to be a Camp Ambassador!
We're looking for student leaders with diverse experiences and perspectives to share their Interlochen stories and help others ignite a lifelong passion for the arts. The Interlochen Arts Camp Ambassador program is a fun and meaningful way to be a leader at Interlochen and in your own community by sharing with friends, classmates, teachers, and local organizations about your experience at Interlochen.
What will I do as a Camp Ambassador?
If selected as a Camp Ambassador, you'll be expected to serve for at least one school year (2024-2025). Being a Camp Ambassador is a commitment of at least 5 hours during the school year, but it may be up to 15 hours, depending on how many activities you choose to pursue!
What activities will I complete as a Camp Ambassador?
Camp Ambassadors complete a wide range of activities! You get to choose which activities you would like to complete and when ... we just ask that you complete two by December 10. Here are a few examples of activities our Camp Ambassadors have completed in the past:
- Hang up Interlochen posters at school, libraries, arts organizations, etc.
- Speak at a school assembly about your summer at Camp!
- Give a presentation to a school group
- Set-up a table at a youth orchestra performance and answer questions about Interlochen Arts Camp
- Make a video for social media
- Write an article for your school newspaper about what you learned at Interlochen Arts Camp this summer
- Host a Zoom call for families interested in Camp from your local area
- and many more!
When will I be expected to participate as a Camp Ambassador?
- By August 28: Submit your application to be a Camp Ambassador!
- Late September: You'll attend a Zoom training session to learn more about the program. These Zoom trainings are recorded for ambassadors who are not able to join at one of the designated meeting times.
- By December 10: You'll be asked to complete one Camp Ambassador activities. These activities encourage others to learn about or consider applying to Interlochen Arts Camp. These activities are listed above ... and you get to choose which you'd like to do (or come up with your own idea!)
- In January: You'll attend a check-in session via Zoom to share about your ambassador activities. This will also be a chance to learn from other Camp Ambassadors and ask questions.
- January-April: You may be asked to be profiled in Interlochen videos, stories, photos, Zoom panels, and social media. This is optional, and you can always opt-in to participate, or not.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I have to live in the United States to participate? No, you don't! Our campers come from all over the world...and so do our Camp Ambassadors! Camp Ambassador meetings will be held via Zoom, and we work to accommodate various time zones. If you are not able to attend the trainings virtually, we also record these and share for you to watch when you are able.
- What is the minimum age requirement? Any Camp student is welcome to apply to be a Camp Ambassador. Last school year, we had ambassadors ranging in ages to 8-18.
- If I have been a Camp Ambassador in the past, can I apply again? Absolutely! We love having Camp Ambassadors sign-up year after year. Your experience is helpful to the newest Camp Ambassadors, so we would love to have you apply again for this school year.
