About Jeffery

Dr. Jeffery Kleinsorge, NCTM, is a distinguished leader in music education whose career reflects a deep commitment to nurturing artistic excellence and innovation. As former Director of the Preparatory and Community Music Program at Concordia University Chicago, he not only shaped curriculum but also mentored the next generation of musicians – from elementary school children to college students – through private lessons and instruction in Piano Pedagogy and Keyboard Skills.

Internationally recognized as an educator, adjudicator, lecturer, and clinician, Dr. Kleinsorge brings a rare breadth of expertise to performance, pedagogy, and composition. His work cultivates pianists who are not only technically accomplished but also artistically expressive and intellectually engaged.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Kleinsorge served on the faculty of the New School for Music Study, where he collaborated with prominent pedagogues Louise Goss and Marvin Blickenstaff—an experience that continues to inform his teaching philosophy. His enduring relationship with the Interlochen Arts Academy began as a high school camper and has evolved into his current role as a member of the piano faculty at the Interlochen Arts Camp. He also contributes to the Academy’s global reach by designing curriculum and teaching courses and private lessons for Interlochen Online.

I believe strongly in well-rounded musicianship. The highest level of performance and achievement should always be matched with informed, intelligent, and artistic musicality, and a deep love of music as a form of personal expression.

Dr. Kleinsorge has held leadership roles on the Board of Directors for both the Chicago Music Teachers Association and the Illinois State Music Teachers Association. He currently serves in an executive capacity on the Board of Directors for the Music Teachers National Association as Secretary-Treasurer.
